OMG! Currys worse than GAME?

Was in my local Currys in Birmingham to buy a new PS3 game. Walking over to the stand i saw a nice 42" Samsung surrounded by PS3 boxes and playing what i thought would be Fifa08 for the PS3. When i get there i realise that its acctually a PS2 playing fifa07!!! Was definatly a PS2 as it had a dualshock 2 with he wire running to it. But you couldnt acctually see that it was attatched to a PS2. Because under the TV where it would ussually show the console your playing on was a big SALE sign which covered the PS2.
This is just wrong and definatly false advertising. Everyone has mentioned GAME for there 360 fanboyism but this is worse than anything ive experienced in GAME.

Lol, the last experience i had with curry's was getting my surround sound, they offered 300w with an optical out for £300 and said i wont find it any lower than that.
So i poped over to argos and found a 850w with optical and hdmi for £230.

Re: OMG! Currys worse than GAME?

The amoint of times I've managed to speak to an advisor in Currys Bullring tend be unhelpful...and I have found that their advertising skills can be wrong many times. I went to buy a TV for my PS3 and they hadn't clearly moved their sale ticket...and as the offer had finished they weren't willing to give me the sale price as it was displayed...Kicked up a but of a fuss with a retarded Sales Advisor then a Supervisor...Went to the manager who then authorised...But I can see what you're saying!

Just don't use currys, here's a long story that'll put you off.

18 months ago I got a £1000 pound voucher from a make a wish charity cause I had leukemia, went in to pc world (thats part of dsg, the peeps who own currys) and bought a laptop for exactly £1000 plus insurance, 2 weeks later the keys started sticking, I noticed abig scratch on it and the sound was *****, took it back only for them to say it was a display model of which they didn't tell me in the first place, but anyway they could only give me a voucher for £779 as replacement, this could be spent at any dsg ltd store (currys, currys digital, pc world, dixons and the link).

Anywho, I ended up getting a £1200 laptop at currys digital as a replacement because the other model was no longer available, I also got out insurance again as well, this obviously meant I had to add another £420 of my own money.

Cut a long story short, It overheated a lot despite being well ventilated from the very first time I used it, a few days later I sent it off for check/repair and got it back and it was still doing it and iver the course of 12 months it went back and forth 6 times and the overheating was causing numerous other problems, finally we said we demanded it was written off, the guy picked it up, 2 weeks later it got delivered back not working at all, rung up again and they said they'll pick it up after an hour with some thick as 2 short planks technician, a onth later we rung up to check what was happening and they were in the process of writing it off, 2 weeks later we had to ring again, they told us it has just been written off due to a manufacturing fault and then finally another month later we got the vouchers, and guess what.....

£729, :smileysad:, so we rung up and complained and they said a pile of prerehearsed crap and we couldn't get our point through their thick skulls ao we wrote a letter to their big wigs and got what looked like a prerehearsed letter back, anywho, I didn't want to give up cause I'm not the sort of person who does but I desperately needed a laptop and decided to cut my losses.

So I got on the currys, dixons and pc world sites and found a nice laptop for £800, rung up and they said I can only use the vouchers in store, however everything in store is either too expensive or a complete pile of crap, so we rung them and said that under the circumstances and because of the troubles they have put us through could they just possibly drop one of the models off their online sector in to a local store, no he said and then we said can we speak to their customer services and he put us through...

This guy was useless, and we said can we go to anyone higher and he said I am the highest person you can talk to over the phone, please write a letter, of which we had already done once and we're not doing again, so we were pretty buggered.

Thankfully for me a good one which I had to add £200 to came in just in time before the 3 month limit on the vouchers went but it was a long 18 months.

I think it unfair to say don't shop at dsg. I think you were an unlucky statistic, who was treaty completely unfairly. But the problems lie with bad communication from them and the fact that the laptops weren't working.

Re: OMG! Currys worse than GAME?

I had a good experince with currys recently bought a laptop 3 months ago but didn't take out the product support then a month ago I cracked the screen by accident (left a pen on the keyboard when I shut it) so got in contact with my local store and took out the product support waited a few weeks took my laptop to the store and about 10 days later it was back with a brand new screen.:smileyhappy: great service. I think you were just unlucky
