Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

After the blue screen came up, i followed the instructions and everything seemed fine and I didnt lose any data that I had on there which includes movies and stuff. but now it will only work on the tv that it all happened on, and when i connect it to a different tv with hdmi, the tv says mode not supported, and still didnt work when i connected it using the scart, i checked on another tv and still not working. but when i reconnect to the first one, it works fine, anyone know what to do? it would be a big help thankyou.

Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

This happened to me several months ago. it happened as soon as I clicked the internet browser icon. Afterwards, my PS3 was mostly fine when I recovered my PSN account. This issue has definitely got something the PS3's browser & I've stopped using it since. The recent update was meant to have improved the browser but I havent looked at it and from what I've been reading here, it sounds like they still havent done enough to improve it.

Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

Just last night I had the 'Blue Screen of Death' on my PS3 Slim 320GB. You have nothing to worry about. The thing that I read when I found out was the same PS3 slim that I have it usually happens on the 1st year of having it. The bad thing is that you have to re-download your game ad-ons. If I was anyone and this happened I'll try to be carefull on what I'm doing. Also thinking that the PS3 is also a computer. So its most likely going to have that kind of stuff happening.

Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

What happens when your screen just turns blue? Mine did this yesterday but there was no text on the screen.
I was playing Battlefield and hit deploy then suddenly my screen turns blue and the tv isn't picking up any video or sound from the ps3 anymore. :smileysad: does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this?!!

The blue screen error with the multi language text is a system crash usually caused by the browser.

All it does is usually reset's the system to default settings your problem sounds like a display problem.

Some tv's will output a blue screen if no signal is present try resettling the display settings by holding down the power button till it beeps twice.

Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

Had this blue screen while using the browser for ITV player.....a reset then after but luckily no game/movies.music/pictures lost but dlc and online passes were? I'm wondering if its a backdoor hack to accounts but no info as yet?

Not using my less than a tear old slim 320gig till i back up to an external HDD which i dont have yet but no way am i losing data as i lost over 5 years worth when my beloved issue one phatty died :smileysad:

In short the freezing/blue screen issues only happened when using the browser so avoid if you can peeps, i feel deep down its something a hacker may do through browsing so be careful

Peace

Re: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

I know one friend who had the same problem for ages I was sifting through pages on PS3's etc How to fix problems until I just thought to replace the NEW HD with the original one given by PS3. : / The original popped in worked fine loaded up like no problem had a happened at all. Put the old one in, same problem. I told him to just stick to the original as that is what I do 160gb is more than enough for me and I have 40+ games easily. That's not including my PSN lot. However my uncle has done the same with a 320gb hard drive then went to a 640gb and at first it didn't work he formatted the PS3 before using the new Hard Drive and it worked fine :smileyfrustrated: ? Hasn't had a problem since.

Sv: Oh dear, blue screen of death on my PS3?!

For the recovery menu:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

Why is that when I try this, nothing happens.

5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button

6. The Recovery menu will pop up. (not for me)

I am about to give up and throw it out the window..

My children can't understand and neither can I.

Hope that some one can help me...

Best Regards,

Kenneth

Hi i have had the blue screen crash a few times with 4OD. I would recommend not using 4OD via the TV section bookmark, access 4OD via the browser via http://ps3.channel4.com/ that link.

Open 4OD as usual press select then add to bookmark's, exit 4OD launch the browser access 4OD from the bookmark you have just created.

The PS3 currently has two versions of it's browser the TV section still uses an earlier more unstable version. This will hopefully avoid another blue screen crash using 4OD from the browser. I have still had one crash using 4OD this way but it's unlikely to happen again.

Ideally i wish channel 4 would improve 4OD or release a dedicated app like BBCiplayer that runs perfect for me.
