i'm still quite new to gaming, so apologies if this is really basic.
when i'm in a game like mw2, i sometimes get to hear 1 or 2 other peoples chat using their headsets.
my problem is the sound is extremely screechy & unintelligible, almost like they are under water.
until now, i've just been turning down the voice volume in the game options to zero, but i'd really like to know why this happens as i may want a headset myself 1 day. my set-up is totally standard, ie: no dmz or port fowarding. i also have a fairly good connection using ethernet.- 20meg down, 1.1meg up & my ping to bbc.co.uk is 24-25.
any advice would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

oh good, so not my set-up then.
i was wondering because i've only ever heard voices at this horrible standard.
i thought maybe there's a lot more chat going on that i'm missing because i'm not set up properly.
thanks for your help frodouk.

thanks for that. "......aaaaaand relax".
just coincidence i've not been in a game yet with owners of decent headsets then. must be a lot of penny pinchers out there. i assume that when i hear 2 players obviously working together though, that they can hear each other ok? otherwise surely they'd switch voice off?
sorry, i am a newbie & did search the forums 1st. honest!
