i prefer the slim it fits better on my desk, more room to breathe and at the end of the day i dont sit there looking at it i play the games! and its quieter!!

This is the stupidest thread i have ever come across, sorry.

The only thing thats even worth mentioning between the 2 consoles was the loss of OtherOS which u havnt even mentioned lol. This thread screams of extremist fanboyism. Surly you know that you brought a PS3 why do u need reminding of it ever time you play a game especially when it would actually delay what your trying to do? I thought i had OCD issues but who cares about chimes and logos? i never noticed them when i had them and ive never noticed what theyve been replaced with.

...As long as my console is sitting level with everything else and not at an angle and as long as all the games are stackad perfectly straight then i dont care thats all that matters!

...I guess we all have our issues...

As for the "we all know the FAT looks best" comment, the FAT looks like the kid on the red bus that licks the windows! Its the ugliest console ive ever owned but i dont sit there looking at it all day, i play it!

Firstly, I do not want to be patronising. You are missing the point of the discussion. This thread is about the SYSTEM SOFTWARE, however you seem to have a grudge against my comment about the way that I THINK The fat looks better and you even disregard the fact that I have clarified in a previous post that it is a matter of opinion. Thats what this thread is about: trying to get people's views on the newer type software.

     Please take the time to view previous posts before posting your own. I did mention the "Other OS" function. You are unfortunately too complacent with your posts. You, in essence, contradicted yourself. You complained that this thead "screams of extremist fanboyism". That again is a matter of opinion. It could be extremist to have your playstation sitting level with everything else and your games stacked perfectly. It is extreme to suggest that it is the stupidest thread that you have come across. (Again a matter of opinion). You should learn to value other's opinions. I would value yours only that you express your's too bluntly. You ask the question, "Who cares about chimes and logos?" I Do, and I know for a fact I'm not the only one. The chimes help give a sense of satisfaction, that one owns a playstation,  a great console and superior than the xbox.

I'm sorry, to all of the other posters on this forum, that the conversaton has been veered off the subject by LukasDave so lets try and get back to the topic at hand.

What aspects of the different system software did you prefer, and why?

I miss the old game start up chime, but my 60gb is still at 2.76 so its still there .

But least the games start a tiny bit quicker without it.

If i could do away with splash screen i would, i have no need to see a screen with noises telling me what the system is and who made it, after all i bought the hardware, i know what i bought and who made it..... Get booted up and get gaming as soon as.
