You could of fixed it your self for £15. I did this nearly 2 weeks ago and its still going strong. As long as you follow a video guide you would of been fine even a 5 year old could fix it.

there used to be a certain computer games shop here in Norwich.. long since closed down now... that used to "chip" all kinds of consoles like the mega drive, the snes etc a few years back.. the chap that did the Modding used to say he had included some "extras" that made your console "run faster",.....

unfortunately they made your console go "bang" meaning you foolishly took it back to him to swindle you even more out of your pokcet money whilst he no doubt messed about with something again!...

i may have been overcharged  but i dont care would have paid more than that to have it fixed.

i love my ps3

many people have been to this guy and they have not reported any probs.

if he has done somthing to it to make it fail

this could be proved

and i would contact trading standards

did not have the time nor willing to take the risk

takeing it apart to invoved also not very good at putting things back together

would rather pay someone else to fix it

that way i kow its done correctly and its also garenteed for three months

also dont have a heat gun

Got a backup ps3 but im glad this kind of service is avalable. Its cheaper than CP if you took it out for over 12 months without needing to use it and so many problems have happened to the refurbished ps3s from sonyeven thats not the most reliable backstop. Having said that i have chipped every console i have ever had except for ps3 and not one has gone bang so i think i would give mine a go if i got the ylod. Gonna have to take it apart anyway to remove the carpet of dust that will be inside.

i tried one of these 3rd party places to repair my 60gb ( they are called http://www.consolerepairsuk.com/playstation-3-repairs_new.php) and it died within 2 weeks, i payed £155 to get it repaired and i never got my money back, i had to buy a new 80gb on top of that, i won't be trusting another place like this again.
