First of I would like to thanks Sony for breaking my PS3. When I got to the install for firmware 3.41 it got to 99% then froze it then shut off and attempted to install the software agian it did the same thing. It restarted again but to my surprise were it has the wirting saying "installing software. do not turn of system" ALL the writing had gone. all I could see was the green bar and THATS IT. I called Sony and they said my PS3 is broke and I need to pay £130 for a repair. I was like ***** because it was not my fault my PS3 broke it your fault for not testing the software propally. Any way I said im going to report you to fair traders for not giving you warnings. E.g when you have surgery you get told the risks it should be the same foro ps3 you get told the risks of the update failing and messing  up ps3 during install.

If any one else has had this problem or something similuar please tell me.

did you or did you not accept before downloading the firmware?? and have you tried another HDD in the ps3 ??

Updated fine for me on my slim. Gonna try it out later on my other ps3

i thought thats pretty much general knowledge with any fw update on anything.

if you mean by terms i accepted and I never had a problem with my HDD so I used the HD that came with it

My PS3 got a YLOD like 1 hr later when I was playing MAG, but I don't know if it was to do with the update. I'm gonna have to get a replacement.

Try downloading the FW on a memory stick, going into the PS3's recovery menu and using the install FW option?

yes the terms of use.! 2nd have you tried another harddrive as it sounds like its corrupted. hence and a new one maybe would do the trick
