My 60gb died 17 june 6.40am got a 80gb one now its much quieter and is a lot cooler the 60gb got so hot you could hardly touch it

My  60GB is 2 years old this August - no problems whatsoever so far!

Mine died the other day too, followed Gilksy fix-it heatgun guide , now working , currently boxed waiting for a new lucky owner.

gonna wait for the slimnlite to come out before i get another.

Wish they would just announce the slim so i dont waste money on the old 80gb....Would be totally gutted...

My original 60gig died 2 days after the launch of GTA 4. I got a refurb about 5 days later and its been worki (touch wood ever since) its now a 250 igg model

Nephews died after 18 months was quoted 2 % failure rate on ps3 by customer support which I believe to be rubbish, the amount of people on my friends list who have had faulty ps3 is so high ,one guy ive spoken to told me where he works out of ten machines eight failed the console has common occurring faults all of which are listed on the console doctors site, their that common some guys making a living from it SONY accept this problem and replace and fix for FREE or loose customers

I have a launch 60GB model. During the heatwave the fan kicked up really loud and I thought it was going to die but still going strong since

Mine is working fine and so are 5 of mates, all bought at launch.

Happy for those who's console are going strong......Doesnt help me though or the other victims of YLOD....If your consoles also died we wouldnt be having the problem of Sony shafting us for refurbs......
