I was playing Fifa 10 UT when a loading page just froze and i had to turn off ps3 now it wont acknowledge any discs at all not even DVD's. I've tried 3 different games and 2 dvds, this happened last night so i left it till the morning and the problem is still present.
I've tried the system restore which was mentioned on another forum but its still the same
Has anybody else had this problem? I've tried looking for a number to contact sony but can't find one ![]()
Any help would be grateful I'm out till 5 so i'll reply then
Thanks

Yeh mate, the exact same thing happened to me last year, its a bitch. If you've already tried restoring the system and if DVD's dont work it looks like you're going to have to contact Sony, dont worry about warranty though, mine was out of waranty but they still sent me a new one ![]()
The number to call is 08705 99 88 77
Hope this helps =)

Yep - the same thing has happened to me too - can only sympathise. I actually opened up the PS3 to try and sort out the problem - thought it might be the lens. But I don't suggest doing this - if the laser has gone - then the cost of a new laser is as much as Sony would charge to collect, repair and return your PS3. You may be lucky and they may not charge you at all. However, be prepared to pay £100 for a repair or £140 for a refurb....

This happened to me last week, .. the only way I got a game to load, was to leave the game disc inside the tray and shut off the ps3 and then turn it back on.
Lucky I was covered by c/play.

Think i can help with this. I had exactly the same error last week.
I rang Sony and they took me through a step by step rpocess to resolve the problem. It didn't help me, they had to send me a new ps3 system. It wouldn't let me start star wars the force unleashed sith edition, RE5, MGS4 and others, only game i could play was Smackdown Vs Raw 2010.
Here is the step by step process they gave me.
Step one:- Have you're system on standby (off) and press and hold the power button until it turns off and on, do not take you're finger off until it has turned off again.
Step Two:- Now press and hold the power button again and when you hear two beeps let go of the button. You will be taken to a screen with about 5 different options.
Step Three:- Select option two which does a system restore, dont worry you're data will not be lost. After it has completed, go back to the XMB and try a game. If it does not work still repeat the above process and try option 3. Then option four if it still doesnt work and then 5. Option 5 WILL erase you're hard drive.
After all this if it still doesn't work, ring sony, explain you have done these process's and they will take a few details off you to deliver a new system next day to you.
WARNING!!!!!!
Back up all you're save data and anything you wish not to loose
