PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?

Hi,

I just got a started pack (ps3 eye and move controller) from amazon and I've noticed problems with colours.

I connected PS3 Eye to my PS3 went to Chat and noticed that the picture looks very blue. There are specific colors/materials like Black Trousers, Dark Brown pillow that is blue on the screen (vivid blue). Also the chair has a blue tint.

Anyone has problem like that?

This was with a artifical light in the evening (Philips 60W bulb - plain normal bulb, not energy efficient one).

Thanks

Hmm, the PS Eye is generally not the best camera out there anyway and tends to produce rather grainy pictures, but nothing too dire. I will be going upstairs in a sec so I will check out how my camera is and see if I notice similar patterns.

I've been testing this now and it's definitely a problem with indoor light. When I have just the sunlight all looks fine but as soon as I switch on indoor light I see lots of blue everywhere. I'm using normal light bulb but I do have a dimmer and I'm not sure if that can cause this funny effect.

the PS eye cams are never very good with dark rooms or artificial light which is something that annoys me, you would think sony would sort out a problem like this for their PS move but i guess they don't care do they?

Move doesn't need any light to work. That's why the Move controller lights up.

Ok this is how it looks like

The first shot is just a direct shot of the pillow using IPhone

The Second one I pointed PS3 Eye at the pillow and got a shot of what I see on my TV in PS3 Chat window.

As you can see the carpet in the background looks fine (the difference is just a white balance) but the pillow looks completely different. It's BLUE!

I've also attached the shot of the Bulb the light is coming from.

Is there anyone from Sony here that can comment on this? Is my camera a fault unit or is it "normal"?
