Re: PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?

Mad if your still around could you tell me

a) Did you get a replacement as part of starter pack or seperate?

b) can you use IR remote in front of the camera and tell me whether a light flashes comes from it?

Please use plain text.

Re: PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?k

Got my replacement from Amazon and it seems to be ok.

So here is what I found and hopefuly it will help others:

As pointed by someone on the other forum the problem seems to be that some cameras lack IR cut filter and the side effect is for example blue color. The best thing to test is the black ps3 move strip supplied in the box as everyone has it.

The faulty camera had Serial Number starting with S/N: A800.... and it produced pictures as below (see the black ps3 move strip in blue as well as very visible IR light from remote control)

A800_1.JPG

Good camera had a serial number starting with S/N: 705... it's probably older model and picture looks ok

A705_1.JPG

I've also noticed difference in lens design between the two although it might not be visible on these pictures

This is A800..

A800_2.JPG

and this is A705...

So the A705 seems ok although I must admit that colors are pretty crap anyway. With indoor light I see a lot of green but at least it's not freaking blue :smileywink:

Oh and there is nothing on the box to indicate which one is which one so you have to open a box and look at the bottom of the camera to see the serial number.

Good luck with getting your replacements

I think I shall ask for clarification from Sony tomorrow as this is something I don't understand at all.

Why remove IR filter? Does it improve seeing the move? Why are some included with IR filter and some aren't?

Mine starts with 810 (no A) and it doesn't have this problem... just in case that helps in data collection.

I would say it's a manufacturing error and it probably affects only specific batch of cameras, but please let us know what you find out from Sony.

Re: PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?k

Was speaking to a young guy and spoke about it and he said in bullet point form

* We had not heard anything of this before

* We have a move in the office and have not experienced anything like that

* Maybe you got a bad batch like you said

* I would suggest only being a week old to return it to the retailer for an exchange

Re: PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?k

I live in germany , i bought the  move starter pack and i have the same problem when using hallogen light,

and i can see the infrared LED of a remote control blinking. The colors are normal under natural lighting conditions and standard  light bulb but with halogen all colors are blue and pink and... WEIRD its like we're on PANDORA !

Re: PS3 Eye - problems with colors, picture is Vivid Blue?k

Got identical problem...

Black looks bright blue, red looks pink......oh, and voice chat is *****ty.  4 second lag, conversations clipped, and even though echo cancelling set, it still starts to echo and clips conversation.  Oh, and to get cancellation to halfway work, I almost blew up my speakers with the volume required to get the "max efficiency" (lol) from the echo cancelling that doesn't really work.  Anyone else with a chat problem like this?

What a piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
