PS3 Slim BD Fault Already ?

Just wondered if anyone had seen this particular behaviour before, found a youtube vid that demonstrates it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JRH9Zlvrh8

The vid shows exactly the problem i have, on a slim though. You'll need to turn the volume up to hear it, it is quite loud really. Its also accompanied by hd thrashing which you can see on the vid.

Pretty sure its a fault and i'm going to return it, just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Not happened to my slim yet but it used to happen to my 40gb, the only issue i have noticed with my slim is the humming noise other than that it performs great
Edit: Noticed that it only made that sound whenever i played uccharted

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Mine does the same its just the drive reading the disc?

It's not a fault!

Honestly, all PS3s do it, it's just the way the PS3's drive works. The PS2 sounded exactly the same when loading games.

EDIT: I just found out that the noise is from when the laser moves back and forward to read different parts of the disc. Obviously not a problem then.

Yeah, i know its just the BD seek noise, but it goes on for several minutes accompanied by HD thrashing, and it only occurs sometimes on initial load of a game then stops and returns to normal.

Its as though the ps3 is doing some kind of temporary install of game data.

Tell the guy that made the vid to close his window as you can't hear a thing with the Waffen-S.S. goose stepping outside

I would say thats more a dirty disc and the drive head is trying to read it.

Re: PS3 Slim BD Fault Already ?

Found another vid, can't see if the HD is thrashing on this one but the sounds better.
