People, evrything the old PS3 did the slim can also do, but that is it....it does nothing EXTRA...O u might want to mention that theres one feature taken away from the slim....No ability to install another OS, so that is actually a draw back for few people lol.

The PS3 does have one extra feature, BRAVIA Sync

It hell usefull means you can controll the Playstion withyour TV remote, especilly great for watching movies and it you have PlayTV.

surely this musta happened when the ps2 slim came out?

I wonder how many ppl who had the phat ps2 knocked the slim,  i upgraded to the slim ps2 and gave my old launch day one to my uncle (i was gonna say i gave my phat to him, but that sounds suss.) I really like the slim ps2. Tho it gathers dust now, im glad i upgraded.

Not this time, I dont want to upgrade my ps3 to a slim, i dont even really consider it an upgrade to be honest.  its just smaller and designed to be more accessible to the average jo.  Im dreading the day my phat dies...............i wonder if you can get viagra for that??

My uncle still has my original ps2 too.  And it works like brand new.

So i guess we can call it even for PS3 phat and PS3 slim lol, they both have 1 feature that the other one doesn't have....TBH i would never use any of these two features, cause i dont have a sony TV, i have  Sharp aqeous TV, and i also have the PS3 blu ray remote, dun no y i even got it....(cough*mum bought it* lol)

technically if you mum bought it then its her tv not yours ....

i think the slim came out to early, a price drop would have been fine, maybe a new model phat one first. they should have listened to everyone when the pics where "leaked" going on about how ***** it looked

ummm...isn't the whole bravia sync thing a firmware update...ie the phat does it too...?

Yes the BRAVIA Sync is part of the 3.0 firmware update.

However this particular feature is only compatiable with the "PS3" slim is it has a newer version HDMI port.

ahh i see. is it a new HDMI standard? ie higher bandwidth?

EDIT: A quick google search informs me that due to the new chipset the ps3 slim can now transmit true hd and dts master hd in bitstream.  not that it increases quality, just nice if you have an amp that has hd decoding, and you want to see the writing come up on the display.  I'm happy with getting my HD quality audio via LPCM and letting the ps3 decode it...

interesting now i will spend some time figuing out what all that means kidding , i heard that this "new" PS3 uses considerable less power then the original 60Gb PS3's
