Hi, I need to have my PS3 slim repaired and id like some advice from anyone that has gone through the process before:

How much does it cost?

How long will it take?

What warranty is offered on the repairs?

Will i revieve mine back or just a random refurbished one?

My PS3 is only two years old so I’m very disappointed that it needs to be repaired/replaced, it hasn’t even been used a great deal, the problem started with an error code after installing GT5 2.0 Update, i followed the advice and did all the steps, it worked for a day but is now stuck in a format/corrupted HDD state and won’t start at all.

And lastly, has anyone had any luck with Sony replacing an out of warranty PS3? i am aware the warranty is 12mths, but an expensive item such as a PS3 should last much longer than 2yrs.

Instead of sending it in for repair, it would probably be cheaper to buy a new notebook harddrive (no more than 9.5mm thick) and putting it in yourself (instructions are in the PS3 manual).

You could just buy a cheap laptop hard drive and fix it your self, because I personally wouldn't recommended sending it away to get fixed as they mostly return them with other issues as well wich you would have to send away again.

I have found a solution;

I purchased a new PS3 pack, 320GB with Battlefield 3 & Uncharted 3 for $448 from EB games and traded the broken 120GB PS3 for $187, total cost was $261 and with both those games, not too bad of a deal.

Overall its the best solution i could come up with,  still sux the original PS3 died in only 2 years though.
