My white DS3 is a CECHZC2J, and the build quality is excellent.

Japanese products always seem to be superior to chinese or europe products. Now if only my PS3 was built in Japan :smileysad:

I have the same model number (mine is from HK though) ceramic white and the build quality is the best of the 3 DS3's I own.

I assumed all official ps3 controllers were built exactly the same....
If you open one up, you can see how all the pieces of electronics fit in perfectly with each other, leaving no room for error?

I never paid much attention until a thread a few weeks ago about the same subject. I have a launch Sixaxis, the left analogue drifts and the square button sticks. I have a HK white DS3 and a DS3 purchased a few weeks back.

The white DS3 feels sturdier and more robust - it just feels noticably better. As for the innards I wouldn't know.

Not sure. I got it imported from HK a long time ago when the DS3 was first launched or around that time. If you can find that model number I'd recommend you go for it.

Ditto, got two of them for £20 each on eBay and never had a problem with them.

i got one from hong kong too,but it was being sold in my local Grainger Games shop up in the wild North of England, and its been great, the only two things wrong with it is fading of the sticker on the back where all the product info goes and it seems to run out of power quicker than i remember when i first got it... and these are both most likely due to a combination of wear 'n' tear and it being used for longer periods now than back then (i was in uni which meant less usage, but now im finished im on my PS3 a lot more)

Re: PS3 controller model number means different quality? Best model number?

I have a black and also a white DS3 ordered from Hong Kong and both have the code CECHZC2H - no issues with either, unlike the little used original sixaxis that came with my 60gb PS3 and has several jammed buttons on it.

The two DS3's are used heaps and I would happily recommend these.
