I recently rented Uncharted 3 but the disc won't load, the loading icon in the corner just spins around for 20 seconds then the disc is ejected. I sent it back and got another copy but still i'm having the same problem. Now i put the game under a light and the disc seems to have them smeary colours... or is it the Lovefilm print they stick right in the centre of the disc thats making my PS3 not read it?. I've never had this problem with loveFilm games before... Anyone else had this problem before?

I seem to remember a few people here saying they had problems with U3 when it first came out. I never had a problem with it (I bought it) and I've never had any problems with any Lovefilm discs so far either, so I don't think it would be due to it the Lovefilm print on the disc.

Hmm interesting. They are sending me another copy today so its third time lucky. Its just strange that both the previous copies wouldn't work.

I think the smeary colours you describe are normal looks a bit like oil in water. I think most dual layer blu-ray games have the same colour distortion KZ3, Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 are all the same for me. Do you have any other dual layer blu-ray games to test to rule out a blu-ray drive problem?

Yeah thats correct , looks like oil in water. No i don't think i do, but you may have a point about my blu ray drive maybe not being able to play dual layer games.
A few weeks back when putting a game into the PS3 it made a clunking noise , only happened once so i'm thinking was that the drive *****ing up?
Its a 2 and a half year old slim so maybe its passing away.

never really had any problems with games from LoveFilm either, and considering its just U3 you seem to be having issues with, guessing its the actual game itself with your console.

as Warren says, think there was an Uncharted loading problem like that, sure there is a fix to it though.

I think Love Film put some sort of protective coating on their discs as I've rented several Blu-Rays from them over the years and had trouble getting them to play

All the discs had the rainbow looking effect you desribed

for some strange reason SOME loading issues can be resolved by simply disconnecting from the PSN before inserting the disc.

no idea why but so far anything with loading issues I always sign out then load the game. Also delete any U3 gamedata (if there is any)

oh and give the disc a clean too.

Lovefilm has been fantastic and generally pretty faultless for me.

sounds like the blu-ray drive is on the way out. As others have said U3 is dual layer and there were a few probs last nov when it was released with some older consoles not being able to read the disk. not sure what other games are dual layer to test it with, have u got gt5? think that is DL.

Drive can be replaced with one off ebay if you have basic electrical skills

I don't have any other dual layer games. MW2 and MW3 work fine. Another copy of U3 should be at my door when i get home from work so i'll try it and if it doesn't work then it must be my blu ray drive. I'll just by a new PS3 tonight.
