Play Fifa 12 against a friend on PS3

Hi everybody. I would like to play fifa 12 against a friend. He is on my friend list and I am on his. when I put the game on the ps3, what do I have to do to play against him? Do we need both the game inside the console? and what to do next? Thanks in advance.
