Playing A Downloaded Game On PS3

Hi Guys,

Looking for a little help here.

I have purchased a game called The Walking Dead in the Playstation Store (season pass)

I have downloaded the game. In the menu screen of my PS3, It appears underneath the game which is disc is currently inserted in my ps3. All seems fine.

HOWEVER, If I click "x" the game beings to install (There is a bar which reaches 100%).

When it does, the game disappears from my menu and I cannot find it anywhere !!!

Can anybody from the PS Support group, or even another user help me with this issue.

The games are bought and downloaded but I cannot find where to access them.

My friends say they should appear under the "game" menu but alas they are only there after I download them, but before I install them.

Just for added info, when I click triangle for "options' on the game when its in the menu I have three options. Install, delete or Information.

Any help is grately appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Dave3004,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues playing dowloaded PS3 titles.

In the game section of the main menu there should be a folder that is located at the very bottom most likely it will be stored in there.

Alternatively you can try redownloading it for free (as you were already charged) from "Account management" > Transactions histrory" > "Downloads List".

Thanks for your post.

In the game section of the main menu the folder that is located at the very bottom is my disc which is in the PS3. Should this folder be above or below that? And do you know the name of the folder? I have a "Game Data Utility" folder !?!

I will give the Australian Hotline a call I think. I really really want to play this game !!!! LOL

I can't be sure, but it sounds like you've purchased and downloaded an unlock key or some other kind of license file without downloading the game itself.

Re: Playing A Downloaded Game On PS3

I think I purchased the game but fron the wrong region. Thats my guess.

There was an advertisement on the PS Store and I clicked into it w/o checking which region. Will check after work. But i think that is the problem.

I think Renze may be right, you have purchased the Season Pass, which unlocks each of the games as they release. You still need to download each episode to play the game.

If you look in the game data folder you should see The Walking Dead in there (that will be your season pass unlock key).

The region of the store shouldn't make any difference, I have a bunch of games from the US store, they all work fine.

PS3s are not region locked, which means they can play all games, no matter where you bought them. Digital content however is region locked: ie, US disk will only work with DLC from US store and vice versa
