Re: Playstation 4 News.....OMG -.-

my guess is december 2014 launch, probably just make a pre announcement at E3 2012 (just say they are working on it)

as for xbox will probably be launched in 2013

Don't see the point in a new playstation yet though, apart from Uncharted most games don't go near using the full potential of ps3. even if ps4 was with devellopers in 2013 games wouldn't be out until late 2014

The graphics are all ready brilliant. The frame rate is down to the developers not what the console isn't capable of.

That's so true ... I started gaming properly back in the Spectrum and C64 days and games developers back then pushed the limits of the hardware far beyond what the computer makers thought their system was capable of. But once the Commodore Amiga came out which was one of the first upgradeable games computers game developers started becoming sloppy and instead of pushing the limits of the machine used the excuse 'If u can't run it upgrade ur machine'

Nowadays most games developers only make the game they don't code the engine and a lot of games get thrown together on games engines that just can't cope with the vision of the games developer ... Damnation was a good example of this. A good game ruined by a crappy game engine.

I say bring back the days of pushing a system to the limit instead of constantly upgrading the hardware to keep up with ppl who don't know their job saying the machine ain't powerful enough for their game.

Re: Playstation 4 News.....OMG -.-

The other thing that worries me about next gen is games. AAA games take around 2 to 3 years to make so next gen will probably take 3 to 4 years maybe even longer if they're built from the ground up. While I can wait for a AAA game to be made (Last Guardian springs to mind) what your going to see more of is shabby, rushed out, half finished yearly updates. And I mean worse then what we see now.

Smaller developers will be closing down from going bust (quite a few already are this gen!), other developers will be releasing any old crap trying to reclaim some costs back (hmm sounds familiar just not as bad yet) and in the meantime you have to play these games while your waiting for GT6/7 to be released that took even longer then GT5 did.

Yep. We're certainly ready for next gen.

[ Edited ]

If they make it like the Wii witth barely improved graphics and the same current features I wont be getting it probably for a  few years. I start uni this year so I will be glad if its not much good as I can spend less time distracted by games and once finished pick up the console when it has gottten cheap. Also I expect the console will take a while to gorw and there may be a phase where people start hacking just to say we did it in a few days.

Sony I dare you to release soon, if its good I will get it but if not I will just wait and get it once the price has dropped. :smileytongue:

Re: Playstation 4 News.....OMG -.-

What we really need is the next generation XBox so that multi-platform games can get better, ie the removal of lineararity (probably not a real word) from the big games that they have to chop in half/thirds/quarters to fit on the XBox.

And what games would they be then, and theres me thinking they just put the xbox version on 2 or 3 disks instead, oh no your right it makes far more sense to just cut 3/4 of the game. LMAO.

The linearity was just one example, GTA4 definitely suffered though because of the XBox's disc capabilities and chopping games on 2 or 3 discs takes extra programming that should not even be required in this generation if XBox would just get their finger out and shove a better disc reading drive in their console. I don't hate the XBox, I hate the fact it still uses DVDs and holds back the industry.

Holding back the industry?

Over 95% of Ps3 games would fit on a single DVD9

GTA4 sufferd as it was crap IMO nothing to do with DVD

GTA4 was on 1 disc for Xbox just as it was for Ps3 so it made no difference.

So what if you have to swap disc's it did not hurt the Ps1, PS2, Gamecube and it is hurting the Xbox360 either.

Blu-Ray is a bonus now but not essential as it will be in the next generation.

So what if it takes extra coding to to have it on more than 1 disc, that is down to the developer to do their job and not you.

TBH i prefer multiple disc games as when you change the disc it feels like you acomplishing somthing.

next gen it will be important to have a bigger media format but not so this gen.
