Well the ps3's web browser is an advertised feature of the console. And i remember sony claiming that the ps3 would be an all round media device and even if the browser is not its primary function it is there and I dont think its to much to expect for it to work properly. Regardless of weather you use it or not or if you have other means of accessing the web via a pc or laptop or smartphone.

You be a mad man Sir.

COMPLACENT!
I'm complacent towards the PS3, because it does what I want it to do (play games and movies) and if I want to browse the internet I just use my PC.

TBH I do expect the features to work properly, even if they are only novelty. When you buy something with the notion of all the software going to work, you expect it too, regardless if you don't use it, It's there when you decide to use it. If it was me, that put the browser in, I would of made sure it was a good upto date browser with mod-cons included... before finalizing the product.

Firstly, I wish humbly to apologise for my very embarrasing gaff over the IRONY mistake - yes, I'd say that copious amounts of eggs are now running down all over my face.
However, what I am not wrong about, which has been endorsed (thankyou) by Flowrider, gymno74 & LarasAider, is my thread.
I expect things to wear out, that is in the nature of things, but to say something should be forgiven for not working properly because that was not it's primary function is very shallow thinking indeed!
For those of you who share this view, maybe you should look into the history of how the Playstation came into being in the first place.
Are you aware that each unit was sold at a loss just to introduce the BlueRay Player onto the market & win the battle over Toshiba's HD disc? Much the same as the battle was won by VHS over the Betamax & Phillips video systems. That battle was won because of the huge VHS American porn market.

The point I'm trying to make, is that it's all about the MONEY!
I'm under no illusion about where the blame lies. It lies with us the CUSTOMER - as demonstated by the other answerers who don't agree with me; they're just interested in upgrades and that the continuous evolution of technology contiues - NOT that the quality of that evolution improves.
If we don't stop this greed for ever clever gadgets instead of making sure that the ones we already have work properly - it is all going to end in tears & I predict not very long from now either.
Do you remember the Millenium Bug and what a damp squib that turned out to be - well, in essence we got away with that one! But the logic for the fear was sound & if we don't start to 'backward engineer' properly NOW so that the various computer systems that exist today & especially older technology that's 'cobbled' together with newer technology

It is always about the money
The thing is you made your choice to get Ps3 over of laptop as annoying as it is it been known for years how poor the Ps3 browser is.
Great game machine
Great at streaming music, video's
Average or poor at just about everything elese

(continued.)
through necessity, greed and many more perfectly legitimate financial or marketing reasons is not 'meshed' together more harmoniously then I predict there will be a similar crash to the one we all experienced recently worldwide in the financial sector.
This crash will come with the advent of Artificial Intelligence systems, which are just around the corner now and especially autonomous artificial intelligent systems - laugh at me if you wish - but I don't feel the conclusion and I stress the word CONCLUSION - not the robots coming back in time part - to the third Terminator film: Rise of the Machines - is going to be not too far from the truth!
I am beginning to see parallels with that particular film in the series almost everyday now and | can't see that anyone is doing anything about it!
I would hate it, if this thread became prophetic - but all the clues are there people.......
- I don't want to be the Lieberman kid in the Deep Impact film!
