So as I said you don't have a HDMI TV.

 

It should work.

If Not there is still something realy wrong with that monitor.

As said the Hardware scaler should work and upscale 720p to 900p.

According to the manual it will accept the 720p signal.  

If the hardware scaler is not working it will be a lower resolution preset should kick in.

If not, youll need to pick up a £5 SDTV from the papers second hand advert untill a full fix can be found or you upgrade to a HDMI monitor.

I have jolly good news, it works! Now.... the audio, what lead can I use for that? I was in the sound settings on the PS3 and there was an option to use it through SCART, I've just tried it but no luck.

Digital optical or you could plug the original av cables red & white into a stereo & select multi audio.
