it is... you just have to make sure you have the right tools, and a good set at that... it was the blue one that caused me the most problem, that was tight, at first I thought they had used some liquid thread lock on it (being blue)...

I did the right size room on the handle for grip the screws would not budge.

I guess its hit and miss some are in tight others loose.

I had this exact problem a couple of days ago. I could not, for the life of me unscrew the four screws, and as a result, the heads were rounded off. I tried Pliers also, but met no success.
Anyway, I rang Sony, and they have sent me a free caddy and screws, which could take up to two weeks to get here.

ive heard that sony will send out a replacement caddy and screws, this is what ive read tho on another forum. luckily for me i didnt wreck the screws to badly.

I rekon the person/s they have fitting them are using hydrolic screwdrives (or ones like they use at the tyre fitters) with the tork set to max... still connot work out why they would ram them up so tight... you'd have thought they would have used star washers if they didnt want them to shake loose...

thanks but sony is already sending me one. also i need the screws that comes with it as one of my screw is screwed tight into the hard drive and i cant get it out. lol @ zombie
