ok so i got a new seagate 1tb external hard drive and i know you have to format to fat32 to use it on the ps3. i have done this but it still is not showing up on the ps3. i have searched forums for hours and cant find a solution and have formatted it about 30 times.any help is appreciated. cheers

1. Does your ps3 recognise other devices on the USB ports.... I had an issue like this once, and applying a system update fixed it and the USB port started working again.
2. Are you sure that you have formatted the drive to FAT32... windows cannot do this alone, you will need an extra piece of software to achieve this. I find fat32format (http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/download/fat32for

wow thats annoying when u type all that and it comes up with a blank post...
but yeah the usb ports seem to work fine, they charge the controllers when i plug them in, and they recognise a 2gb flash drive when i plug that in, so i am confident it is not the usb ports
also fat32format was the program i used to format it. it also says fat32 in the properties for the hdd.
