Ps3 on or off?

just a quick question, when u have finished playing your ps3 do you switch it off from the switch @ the back of the console or just leave it on standby?

Im thinking will it help the ps3's life expectancy :smileyvery-happy: i currently leave mine on standby intereasted in eveyone els though.

Re: Ps3 on or off?

I have a slim so there is no switch. I never unplug it so when I am not playing a game it is always on stand-by.

Re: Ps3 on or off?

It doesn't make any difference. The most likely thing that will happen if you always switch it off is that the rocker-switch will break.

Re: Ps3 on or off?

when I had my 40gb I switched it off at the back, now I have my slim I do not have the choice.

Plus we have Playtv so it needs to stay on standby incase one of us has set something to record.

I power my ps3 from a 6 way adapter which also feeds my tv, surround, router and wii. So the only thing that really has a power off button is the tv. Global warming, trying to help it along a bit as it is frickin cold outside :smileyhappy:

Re: Ps3 on or off?

I always leave my 60gig in standy.
I've had it pluged into one of them sockets that tell you how much electic it's using and when it's in standby it uses almost nothing. It uses a fair bit when it's turned on though. :smileyhappy:

Re: Ps3 on or off?

Standby.   The amount of current the PS3 draws in standby is miniscule (1W, even less if you have Remote Place disabled).

Switching it off and on at the back (or worse still, in the case of the slim, inserting the figure8 lead), is FAR more likely to kill your PS3 via a mains spike...
