Qriocity automatically funded itself

Was checking my emails and noticed a wallet funding on my PSN, when I checked it, it has added funds to renew the qriocity music app. I installed it at the start with the free 30 day trial but that was it. Anyway went to account managemeny and under services list the app was automatically set to renew itself and I have now turned it off, also automatic funding was set to on. I have never gone to these options and had no intentions of spending €9.99 a month on the music service. This is really bad form on sonys part for having these options set as default and so much for a free trial, I know I should get on to them but probably more hassle than not but would advise anybody to check their own account for this issue as to not get caught out too.

Re: Qriocity automatically funded itself

DCUO is exactly the same. To anyone who doesn't know.

But i agree, it's terrible that its set on renewal. Especially if you only wanted the trial. It's like Sony are trying to scam a monthly payment of us :Shame:

The more I think about the more its like robbery, I was never asked or made aware of this feature of taking money from me without my permission.

Re: Qriocity automatically funded itself

instead of just clicking and loading as fast as u can to get it started try reading the t&c's

pretty sure it tells u that it is set to automatically fund when necessary so unless u read it and chose not to have auto funding on then u agreed to it and its not robbery im afraid

Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase

There's an age old saying ''always read the small print!''

It would be robbery if it wasn't in the T&Cs you signed up for but its your own faults TBF

I work in Marketing and so know exactly what should be communicated in mar comms. The fact that the payment is taken monthly was stated, but I can't remember if it clearly gave you any directions to opt out and I believe this poses a legal risk to complaint.

Saying that you have to opt out in order not to pay monthly is not enough as a user needs to know how to opt out in the first place.

Here you go :-

6. Eligible Persons will be required to submit their credit card details in order to subscribe to the Premium Plan. Unless an Eligible Person cancels their subscription prior to the end of the free trial, the subscription will automatically renew and Eligible Persons will be charged for the next 30 days (and thereafter if they do not subsequently cancel) in accordance with the provisions of the TOSUA. Eligible Persons can cancel their subscription via Sony Online Services Account Management.

This was taken from the T&C's HERE .So I don't think robbery comes into play here:Blush:

I guess it was in the t&c but these services should not be automatically set to take money, it actually funded my wallet account automatically then took the €9.99. The T&C says the subscription will automatically renew, it did not say it would automatically add funds to my wallet so it could get its money. Also the qriocity app itself gives you the option to subscribe with no problem but has no cancel option at all. They make it hard to cancel but very easy to take your money. All im saying is that it certainaly feels a little like robbery and if you dont think so I guess its a case of having more money than sense:Blush:

P.s... also your extract states persons will be required to submit their credit card details?? Qriocity never once asked me for mine, it automatically used the one set up on my account. If it had I never would have taken up the option.

Anyway lesson learned, Im a big fan of sony but not this time

Re: Qriocity automatically funded itself

Think you'll find its not people having more money than sense, its more you not having any sense,
if you read what your meant to read you'd have known, your simply blaming another party for your own mistake

also how is it hard to control, all services are controlled from a single menu as its an integrated system,
which is also why the app alone doesn't ask for card information

Re: Qriocity automatically funded itself

you would have thought after your trial an option would have popped up saying "your free trial has ended, do you wish to subscribe yes/no" i wonder how many people have been caught out
