Re: Question for sony about YLOD

YLOD comes without warning.  It doesn't matter what noises the PS3 is making.  If it is just solder breaking then £145 is a rip off.

Re: Question for sony about YLOD

Chances are that the YLOD can be caused by any number of issues within the console, so to say it is a specific manufacturing defect is probably pushing it a bit.  I do understand your frustration at being asked to fork out £150 for a replacement, but at the end of the day, your machine is out of warranty, so to expect it replaced for free is asking a bit much, especially as there is an insurance scheme provided to cover such eventualities when out of warranty.  With regard the Singstar issue, have you tried calling back and speaking to another rep??  Failing that, as someone else mentioned, speak to a line manager, as they cannot refuse to unlock downloads which you have payed for and cannot access due to a machine fault.  I could see their point if you were trying to put the tracks onto 2 functional machines, but this is not even possible with the way singstar works and as they are only accessible on 1 machine and through your PSN ID, quite frankly, they dont have a leg to stand on.

Re: Question for sony about YLOD

To say that it is out of warranty so it is tough luck is not actually correct.

According to the Sale of Goods Act, goods sold have to be of a satisfactory quality.  Meaning that expensive luxury items, should be expected to last longer than say a cheap electrical product.

There is an obligation on the retailer of up to 6 years for a claim, so maybe there is a case to be answered here?
