My PS3 was bought in the UK and I live in the UK.

 

Q. Can my PS3 (PlayStation 3) play DVD's for Region 2 which are also in NTSC format as well?

 

Cos' I thought that PAL was only associated with Region 2 and NTSC with Region 1 etc...

It makes buying difficult if they mix the formulas of the DVD.

Yes. The only thing that restricts what you can play is the region number (which you can change 3 or 4 times). I don't think PAL/NTSC matters much anymore.
