You said recession lol, and it would be a year from when you bought the console, so yours has run out.

Sorry dude. :smileysad:

no,no,no,no no! :smileytongue:
If you bought the ps3 in an irish shope such as smyths etc, you get 2 years warranty- 1 years warranty with sony themselves and then a year extra after that from the shop itself.

Wrong.

The Sales of Goods Act (SOGA) states that after 6 months, you have to prove there was an inherent fault from date of purcahse. You also have 6 years to make this claim. It mentions nothing about how long a product should last in years and certainly mentions nothing about the PS3 should last 3 years.

So, Do you think after 3 years it is expected to YLOD?

just like a 360 expect a PS3 to die... its not if, its when... at least MS give a 3 year warrenty on RLOD... if the Quantity of owners that machines that fail is so low (like Sony claim), you would have thought Sony would have replaced or repaired out of good will... but hay what do I know about keeping customers when Sony is doing well with its EU treat em mean keep em keen policy...

Microsoft were 'forced' to offer this warranty. If Sony have not been forced to, surely this shows that it is not as a big problem as people are making out? Also, Sony did do this for a short while, but then why should they if they dont have to? If they were going to do this, then they should just offer a 2 or 3 year warranty, but I don't see why they should when they think their product is good enough to last. Makes no sesne really.

Re: Reasons for YLOD

As in the problem was there when the console was manufactured, like it was basically guaranteed to break down.

The fault is if it due to bad manufacturing, cheap or un-reliable parts.

This has to be proven that the reason the product is defective is due to manufacturing and not because of the purchaser.
