Replacement PS3's from Sony

Hi, can someone answer a few questions for me please. 1. Do they come with the security seal you get when you buy a brand new one or a different type, or maybe none at all? 2. Do they replace like for like, I have a 60GB, will I get a 60GB back? 3. How much do they charge? 4. How long is the warranty? Thanks for any help :smileyhappy:

  1. No (usually out of the box, but it does have a warrenty seal attached)
  2. Sometimes yes and Sometimes no (I think Sony might struggle with getting hold of a replacement 60GB and I have known Sony to give someone a 40GB when they've sent in a 60GB with a reduction cost of a refurb)
  3. I think it's around £110-£160 for a refurb., I could be wrong though.
  4. Someone said 6 months, but it could be longer.

I hope I'm right with estimates cos' I'm usually  a long way off .:smileyvery-happy:

I'm unsure about 1 and 4 (although 6 months sounds about right).

Question 2 tends to be a yes. They usually offer 60GBs for 60GBs, slims for slims etc.

Question 3 I'm pretty sure it's £110, I've not heard them charging more than that although it's possible it depends on circumstances. In any case I've more often heard of it being lower (free, occasionally) than higher.

The refurb PS3's come with a rather astonishing 3 month warranty.

3 Months is a fairly standard period of warranty on repairs and/or refurbs by any manufacturer or repair place

Ah you speak the truth. Although if you're in warranty you get the rest of your 1 year guarantee + 3 months.

SCEE...will, for a period of 1 (one) year from the date of original purchase (the "Guarantee Period"), repair or, at SCEE's option, replace any component part of this Product, free of charge, where it is faulty due to defective materials or workmanship.

Replacement will be with a new or, at SCEE's option, refurbished component or system, which is guaranteed for the longer of 3 (three) months and the remainder of the original Guarantee Period.

If possible, absolutely. The refurb PS3's are garbage in my experience with them.

Re: Replacement PS3's from Sony

Hi, thanks to everyone for your replies, the questions are void now as I ended up giving them a call and I can't get a refurb as my PS3 has been opened :smileysad: Thanks again for the help though.
