Resident Evil 6. No 'tank' controls.

[ Edited ]

Details about Capcom's latest endeavour to sink the Resident Evil Franchise have emerged.

Resident Evil 6 features an evolved control system allowing players to shoot whilst moving; slide; roll in any direction and to take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack

Diagnosis: Resident Evil (in any sense that we currently know it in) is dead :Zombie:

Re: Resident Evil 6. No 'tank' controls.

of course the classic resident evil is dead poor classic's........

best thing they could have done is make both a classic mode and a modern mode where you could play the style you liked e.g resident evil code veronica or resident 4 styles....

shame really how the games turning out

It'll probably still be a bit camp and hammy so all is not lost.

If that all falls through I can always get my z-grade scripts and b-movie action from the latest MGS. There's a franchise that just won't die.

I read the article on Now Gamer this morning.

I stopped reading at:

Zombies: Yes they are back, but now they run, jump at you, even use weapons and as such are different from those encountered in previous games.

What the **** are Capcom on  :Shame:

All my hopes of giving Resi 4 another chance and playing them for what they are are dwindling fast.

NOW PLAYING:  Max Payne 3

Re: Resident Evil 6. No 'tank' controls.

the majority of people wouldnt play the new resident evil if they were the same as the old games. people are bored of "normal" zombies as zombie games are evreywhere and i find it hard to play old resident evils now due to awkward controls and dodgy cameras the games had to evolve to appeal to the current market.

Re: Resident Evil 6. No 'tank' controls.

It smart from Capcom really, in today's gaming market what sells more, survival horror or action games??

By making Resident Evil more action oriented they have opened the franchise up to a bigger audience.

Exactly, but I think many classic Resi fans like myself wonder why they didn't just start a new series to make these action games, rather than completely transform a series that was the number 1 survival horror game for years.

The tank controls may feel outdated and clumsy now, but that is part of the horror of the game. I remember the difficulty of trying to navigate past zombies or run away from hunters with the intentionally difficult camera angles and controls. It was fun! And bringing back the zombies in Resi 6 means nothing when they're giving them bloody weapons and superpowers.

By all means, have action/shooter games because they are great too. But why hijack a series with an already-established fanbase? IMO, Resi stopped being Resi after the REmake and Zero.

All about money mate, Capcom are purely going in the direction what they think will make them more of it.

Re: Resident Evil 6. No 'tank' controls.

How are we supposed to control the tank, then?

This is a poor design decision.
