Hmm, tough one. RE1 was absolutely awesome back in the day. I'm playing "5" with the Move at present, but it just doesn't bear any resemblance to the old style. It's still good, but it's just sooooo different.
I know they had to make 5 so you couldn't move and shoot at the same time, but I don't like this about it.

Work on the story with established horror writers etc....
Working with established Horror writers would be a great move. Moving the atmosphere of the game (regardles of whether it is still more action orientated) would also be a good move. I love the atmosphere they created in 4 - for me, that was the best. But just imagine a new story penned by Stephen King!!
Umbrella, I guess, has always been an element of the narrative - but what if the new threat comes from an original source? - even if it was an ex-member of the Umbrella organization? Perhaps a rogue and mad scientist (huge horror cliche) who originally worked on the virus?
The return of Survival horror in RE maybe justified, but it could also, ultimately, just prove to be too ***** frustrating...

Perhaps the should try and make a sandbox spin off?
Imagine a map the size of Liberty City, but have it infested with all types of Zombies and boss battles. You could break into weapon stores and get new stuff, even break into cars and mow those slobby zombies down.
Sure that sounds more like Dead Rising, but Dead Rising done the right thing by adding shed loads of zombies to kill.
I dunno or care though. I'm on nights tonight and I am already awake. Going to be a long and weird 24hrs for me.

Yeah lol,
16 hour shift will hopefully be able to give me some fresh ideas though. Then about 6 am I will be foaming at the mouth, eyes will be pink, and my poor team mate will be in the corner shaking until the next shift arrives.
My wife is the most beautiful being on this earth. But there is no better site than seeing the next shift arriving to take over lol.
I would love a new Resi game to take place in a huge mansion again though. Bring back the scare factor to Resi game, rather than trying to get too deep with the whole story thing.

It will be Leons game next (read somewheer its taken in turns with different characters everytime so expect people like Ada Wong and the like to make an appearence. Don't expect it anytime soon though there was a big gap between 4 and 5 and don't think we'll see number 6 on this console, maybe on the next generation.
Anyway I doubt theres any need for another one thought it ended well with Wesker dying etc!

exactly... that's why i'd be hapy with RE1 port in HD to tide me over. I don't mind if there' sa few tweaks to story and the voice acting is changed, I don't know if i can stand Barry Burton's acting!
No! Barry Burton was a legend! ![]()
Personally, I would love a remake of the first RE. I first played it on my mate's Saturn before getting it for my PS and remember it feeling like something so fresh. Obviously survival horror is anything but fresh nowadays, but there was something truly spooky about the whole haunted house feel of the first game that's never been replicated in any game since. I think part of that is down to the (now slightly comical) loading screens (e.g. doors opening, footsteps on staircases etc.) that heightened the tension as you entered new rooms, but also the great set pieces and wonderfully freaky music/sound effects. I'm not sure whether a remake could capture that rawness again without some of the clunky game mechanics that wouldn't exist in a modern take, but if done in a way that wove new technology around the original story in a way that retained that slightly cheesy b-movie feel, littered with those occasionally genuinely frightening set pieces, then I'd gladly return to the mansion any day (or night)...
