I was reading up on a rumour about a price drop, to tackle upcoming interest for MS kinect thing, I thought its all probably suggestive thinking....but it kinda reminds me how the PS2 finished off N64 and Dreamcast with an aggressive pricing strategy

Wouldn't surprise me. More likely 1st November though, when the xmas rush starts proper I would have thought.

The 120GB MODELs allready priced dropped due to the 160GB and the 320GB being New.
GT5 Bundle wont price drop that's gonna sell PS3 buy the lorry load. other stores will discount NFS:HP as well as a custom bundle. The 320GB move edition PS3 bundle is allready out.
And more importantly the adverts are running on subscriber based TV channels So aiming at people with money that can pay for TV so have extra disposable income.

I don't think we will get any noticeable price drop until a year from now. By then the PS3 had about the same price for ~2 years, and it's about time for a price drop.

why a price drop because of kinect from what i have read up on it its got nothing going for it so why would sony panic and drop the prices

It's Christmas in three months. Pretty safe to assume there will be a price drop.
