Scared and confused, PS3 Why?

Alright, a yesterday I encountered a major problem that I posted last night and scared by the lack of comments/solutions, I resorted to calling the support line. The lady had me activate safe mode and activate option 2, restore default settings. So my question is, how much longer will it take? It been since 8PM last night and still going, indicated by the swirly circle at the upper right corner.

Sorry to hear that, I think you may need to call the support line again. The issue may be more serious than a Factory Reset can resolve.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your console

As much as I understand why you wouldn't want to lose all your data, If the console needs to be sent away the HDD is formatted.

The best idea in this situation would be to 1 more time try the safe mode option and use number 5.

If this doesn't work definately give the friendly staff at PlayStation a call and they will definately be able to help you further.

Re: Scared and confused, PS3 Why?

I managed to resolve this by cancelling the operation and completing a file system restoration. Yet the problem may lie in my hdd's age? Although I solved this, my ps3 is acting up in the same manner yet again.
Can anyone identify a cause and solution?

Hi Xx_Shinigami_oO,

By the looks of it there may be an underlying issue with your console.  At this stage since your console is still giving you problems; your best bet is to get the console sent off for repair.
