buy a 60Gb from a reputable high street shop, who will also sell you a 2 year warranty for an extra £30 or so.
Use the £50 you have saved to purchase whatever game you like :smileyhappy:

This is what am planning on doing tomorrow. My local GameStation have a offer on. Buy a 60gb PS3 for £199 or buy a 60gb for £210 with a brand new (selected Game) Uncharted 2 and Eyepet with camera is included in the deal. So am planning on getting the 60gb with game for £210 then pay the extra £25 and get a 2 years extended warranty. So 3 years warranty all together (including the standard 1 year warranty).

are gamstation different with their warranty? because Game do the 2 years warranty but it includes the standard year (as you get accidental damage cover), meaning you only get 2 years warranty and not 3.

double check on the length of the overall warranty - I think it is 2 years including the standard 1 year.

still a bargain though

Re: Should I get the 60gb model ps3?

Well when I got my Slim in October I took out the extra warranty for 2 years the guy who served me said it is covered up until October 2012 so I assume it is 3 years unless they have changed the policy in the last 6 months.

Re: Should I get the 60gb model ps3?

ocelot07 - it could well be - when I bought mine back in Nov last year (for my kids), they were doing 2 and 3 year warranties.

Just checked the paperwork I got with mine - the first year says "manufacturer's / retailer's" cover, then plus 1 or 2 years extra depending on how much you pay for the extension :smileyhappy:

Re: Should I get the 60gb model ps3?

You could sell it to gamestation/cex for £150, I was thinking abotu selling mine if I could get 200 for it just because of a bigger HDD and I hardly use the PS2 BC anymore. Can't say I've had any problems with it, fingers crossed

Re: Should I get the 60gb model ps3?

Tbh, I wouldnt get a 60Gb. They do appear to be the most unreliable (I traded my own 60Gb for a slim even though I hadnt had any problems with it - I just anticipated problems in the future). Unless you want to play PS2 games on the PS3 then I would go for a Slim. There arent many other reasons to buy a 60Gb anymore.

???????

What a load of tosh!!  I have had a 60gb since launch and never had any issues.  Granted, there have been issues with the 60gb, but then there are issues with ALL consumer electronics.  Everyone seems to have so much faith in the reliability of newer models, when they have yet to even hit 1 year old in the case of the slim, so maybe we should be saying get a 60gb because at least you know the risks, the same cant be said about all of the newer models.

Sorry bout that, rant over!! :smileyvery-happy:

To the OP, it depends what you are after.  I would have a 60gb every day of the week because I regularly use the card readers and extra usb ports and dont like having hubs hanging off it, but there are merits to the slim etc also.  Whatever you decide, any flavour of PS3 is worth having!
