NEW BUG!!! Yay!
Quite an odd one this... I was backing up my saves in the PS3 when I noticed that the anaimation for the Sims3 save had taken over all of my other save files...
They all had the logo that looks right for each game... but once you "hovered" over it, it showed the Sims3 animation... dos that make sense?
Anyone else have this?
do u mean the little video that u see when u on the disc?

I made a slight error in what I was saying about the book thing. It's not a challenge as I stated, it's an opportunity and I assume it came about because of the fact that one of the traits for my Sim is Bookworm. Basically I only need to write three books and then take them to the City Hall to complete it. I don't know how much money or what I will get for it as I'm still working on it.
Just finished adding a second floor to my house and almost ran out of money. I added a new wall, put in a staircase and floor as well as a new roof and I've put a bed in and that's it, money gone lmao. I may cheat on moving house thing but I think I will do the buying car one properly as I want to add a garage anyway. My Sim does actually have a car - a police patrol car - because I've got so far up the Law Enforcement career track but because it was given as part of a promotion it doesn't count towards the trophy. Like you I would like to buy into a business. I've got my girlfriend's Sim to Vice President of the Business Career track and her lifetime wish is to be CEO of a corporation but for buying into a business or buying it outright I imagine you would need a lot of money. Other than that I have no idea what the criteria is. I guess it ties in with your Sim's chosen career path though and that the criteria would be different depending on the career.
My girlfriend always says I'm like my Sim as well. My Sim has excitable, Childish and Clumsy traits which is me to a tee - although I tend not to pull funny faces at myself in the bathroom mirror like my Sim does
i get $14k a week now so i could afford to put a second floor i might do that tonight actually as i need a second bathroom and toilets, i have to be careful as the bar for the building mode is bright orange so i can't really build anything more lol, no you don't need to start a new game, just save your current game and go to the computer sell your stuff, move, get the trophy and then quit game and reload save data.
maybe thats why that opportunity thats appeared for my sim i don't have the bookworm trait, i have the lucky and music traits instead, don't cheat as it will disable the trophies! you don't need to cheat to move house, just do what i said before and the trophy should pop up!

Just an update (or an end) to my story. Took the Sims 3 back to the shop where I purchased it (EB Games) and got a full refund (store credit but just as good as I used it to buy Time Crisis). I'm not sure what the law is like in other countries but here (Australia) if you buy a product that does not do what it is intrinsically supposed to do (and a computer game that all but prohibits you from saving would fall under that category) then the place that you bought it from must offer either replace it, or offer a full cash refund or store credit. They can't just give you another copy unless the copy you have has a unique fault; which mine does not. I was talking to the employee at the store and he told me I wasn't the first person to bring back the Sims 3 because it was not working. He said he was sick of companies like EA releasing products that don't work and expect the shops to pick up the mess after their stuff up. He seemed genuinely annoyed with EA. So there you have it. I wish you all luck with your Sims 3 gaming and I still hope (but doubt) that EA will eventually release a patch to fix this great game. I would like to play this game but in it's current state that is impossible. I encourage any person who has bought this game that is not happy with the state of the game and the response of support from EA to take it back for a refund. Perhaps when the local chain game shops contact their distributers asking what the heck is going on with EA as they are getting swamped with people returning faulty EA products, then perhaps EA might take this seriously and fix this problem.I think u stupid selling your game TBH just give the Sims team chances to work on a patch to fix the game.
On the PC ver they do updates for it
it's his choice and money if he wants to sell the game, but i know for sure that you can't trade this game in because of the online pass the game wouldn't be able to go online if anyone brought this game second hand so you would loose a lot of money in trade ins lets hope a patch arrives and EA gives us just as much attention as the pc version gives, it dosn't look likely as i went on the sims 3 EA forums last night, there wasn't even a proper section for the console sims 3 just a open topic with loads of pages! lame EA! strangely there was a separate section for the iphone version, i think EA always thinks that when a game comes out that is that and they will ignore the pleas but make enough noise and they should notice eventually.

@CRASHBASHUK
Thanks for your input. I would have loved to have waited and played this game once a patch for it was done.
However, no one from EA (from their web site, press release, support staff) has ever acknowledged that there is a wide spread problem and have never indicated that a patch is being worked on or even considered.
If someone from EA had said, "Yep, we know there's a problem and give us a few months to work on a fix." then that would have been enough. I would have put the game on the shelf and just waited for the patch.
The problem is they haven't said a patch is coming. If I (and others) are to return a faulty product it must be done in a reasonable time frame. That is, I can't wait for a few months hoping that a patch will come and then find there isn't one. It would then be too late to take it back and I would be out of pocket.
I have had other games with problems where the developer has done the right thing.
Recently there was a problem with the latest F1 2010 game that also affected the game saving properly after you went past a certain stage in the game. The developer (Code Masters) on the site immediately acknowledged the problem and indicated a patch would be coming. A couple of months later the patch did come. I was quite happy to wait for a couple of months because at least I knew there was light at the end of tunnel.
EA has done nothing. In fact, EA has gone out of their way not to acknowledge a problem and from what I've seen on the web from the various responses they have sent people about the save problem they have all but said it must be your console in a lot of these circumstances. That is not good enough.
If you have some information about a patch being worked, please post that information.
