So I was thinking about buying a cooling fan for my PS3 Slim?

First off is it worth it? Secondly if it is worth it what would be the best one? I want one that will be very reliable, last me a long time and maybe silence the sound. Any suggestions?

Fair enough but my PS3 is in a very small area and I'm unable to put it anywhere else it just tends to get very warm where it is

Re: So I was thinking about buying a cooling fan for my PS3 Slim?

if you can feel the heat pushing out of the console then it will be fine. i take my ps3 apart ever few months to clean the dust out inside the console. plus iv also put artic silver heat paste on the cpu/rsx which is the best paste you can get. search utube for help on how to do it. I would not buy a fan that clips on the ps3  its a waste of money.

I bought a fan for my ps3 (fat) a long time ago, it made such an awfully hard noise.. I used it for 2 days and havent used it since... its a waste of money in my opinion..

they do more damage than anything else , not really advisable hence why there are no official fans from sony

Steer clear of all third party console coolers, most require to be plugged into the USB ports and console USB ports were never designed to power cooling fans constantly.

Your PS3 slim cooling system works fine, if its warm at the back then its doing its job, relax, play and enjoy, as long as its well ventilated your slim will give you many years of reliability.

[ Edited ]

i bought one ages ago and really like it, but i didnt buy it for the fans/cooling, i got it for the pretty blue lights on it, looks really cool in my darkened gaming room. i also dont have it running off the ps3's power, i have it connected to my tellys usb. i cant really see them causing more damage either as another poster suggested. i could be wrong, but its certaintly not caused my ps3 any damage, or my friends who has his plugged into his ps3. mine only cost something like £6, bargin !!!

Re: So I was thinking about buying a cooling fan for my PS3 Slim?

it will cause more damage

its been discussed to death on here before

theres nothing wrong with the fans inside

just make sure theres space around the ps3 so it can breathe fresh cool air
