After all the rumours and a no show at E3 Sony have now, “entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gaikai Inc”.
While PS3 isn’t mentioned specifically in the press release, Sony Computer Entertainment boss Andrew House had this to say: “By combining Gaikai’s resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with SCE’s extensive game platform knowledge and experience, SCE will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences. SCE will deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices.”
Apparently Sony sunk $380 million to buy the company although, “the transaction is subject to certain regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions”.

After the deal with onlive for Sony blu-ray player and TV's I am shocked at this.
Makes you wonder if the Ps4 is going to be live streaming rather than physcle media. If so I would have though it would be a bit soon for that.
Have to wait and see.

Like physical media will just go straight out the window next gen
Think of all the lost revenue from everyone with low speed broadband like myself who struggles downloading a demo never mind streaming a game I want to play.
It will be available to a wide range of devices and will be a big feature of the next PlayStation alongside its Blu-ray player for retail games..
