Sony please take down my account

[ Edited ]

Would it not be wise for Sony to delete all our personal details from the servers. then send us a secure password to all our email addresses which has an appropriate level of security, and invite us to reset our details.

Now I understand that we would still have to wait until the network is up and running. But at least if they took this option, it would be a step forward in protecting us. As every hour the hackers have our details is an hour we are all at risk is it not?

I also wonder how many users have drifted away from the network, maybe changed their email just how do you protect their details?

If the hackers already have our details then deleting them from the servers is a redundant move. The horse has bolted so to speak.

I see what your typing I_reaps, but as far as I can see the only advice from Sony is "once the network is fixed we recommend you amend your passwords"

Yeah, I was thinking that they should delete our passwords and send us new ones to our email accounts. If we aren't quick enough when it comes back up someone could easily hack our accounts otherwise.

What would that achieve. The data and details contained in our accounts has already been compromised and may well have been stolen already. Thus deleting the details now would be pointless.

You could phone them and ask for all information pertaining your account(s) to be deleted if you still feel vulnerable. But it would be best just to cancel your Credit Card and change your password.

They should do a compulsory change of passwords on every account on the PSN.

Re: Sony please take down my account

Sony are saying its our responsibility to protect ourselves, by logging in when the network is up and running. What about the members who have moved on would it not be better to just delete and start again. Also not all of us are technical and fully understand what's happening here, it's not like Sony are taking steps to advise us is it?
