Sony's New Handheld with 3G Capability?

Getting a lot of mixed messages from Sony these days about the likelihood of a new PSP iteration, one minute it seems we are years away, then some other Sony bigwig implies it could be very close.

On top of that we have had parallel rumours for some time now of different Sony devices being developed, like a Sony Ipad equivalent, a PSP Phone or the ongoing PSP2 rumour, are they all being developed? Or just 1 or 2 of them? Or maybe none at all?

My personal take on this is..... I don't have a clue! But something is definitely rumbling, and my main basis for that among other things is that no less than Sony's top bigwig Howard stringer himself was quoted in the wall street journal from a top Sony board meeting in December of last year, that a device and interface was being developed that would be far broader in scope and be far superior to the iTunes model, and that he was currently continuing to integrate all the different parts of the Sony conglomerate in its development.

Anyway the latest rumbling iv'e come across is here.....

The PSP should have had 3g capability from the begining, and two thumbsticks and four shoulder buttons.
Basically a normal gamepad with a screen.
Which then could be linked to the ps3 and the screen used to display a games hud and more detailed "gps" for sandbox games or to show your inventory for rpg games without having to pause. It could even be touchscreen to select items that you want to use.

Re: Sony's New Handheld with 3G Capability?

The PSP Go had Bluetooth tethering, so if you have your mobile in your pocket and it's has Bluetooth and 3G, then the PSP will hapilly play online using it's 3G connection.

I use this all the time and it works well.    It's only the PSP Go that has Bluetooth thou, not the older and (and rubbish) UMD ones.

There's Gamescom in August and Tokyo Game Show in September. Those are the two major ones left this year as far as I'm aware.

simple.. they were a waist of money, they dont support half the stuff thats out for the original psp, and the money in creating that should of gone towards a totaly new psp all together, cause now im going to end up buying an iphone cause psp carnt create anything new and up to date.

but i do agree and realy hope the next psp handheld of any kinda should have 3G
