Depends on whom you're asking to trace it, and when.

If you have a record of the serial number, provide it to the Police so they can return your unit (if they can be arsed to investigate the theft).

Technically, Sony can provide information to assist in tracking a PS3's appearance on the network - source IP, ISP and rough geographical area - but they'd only do this if requested by a crime-enforcement agency, and I doubt any such high-level organisation will be instrumental in your case.

Definitely provide as much information to the police as possible, and change your PSN login password like yesterday!
