Stolen PS3

My nephew has had his PS3 stolen. Is there a way that PS can check the IP address to see if it's being used?

If a mod or official PS bod needs it an incident number can be provided.

Re: Stolen PS3

You'll need to contact Playstation support on 0844 736 0595 (UK)

Provide them with the PS3 details and any police contact information or reference numbers you may have been given.

I wouldn't get your hopes up though

http://store.playstation.com/login.gvm

go there and deactivate the account before they get a chance to use it or use any credit cards linked to the account

Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase

Re: Stolen PS3

My mate had his stolen. Told Sony , Police, got a ref-Num, ect. He lived about 80 miles from me and asked if i could go onto his account and deactivate his account from my PS3.

.

Well i done this, and next day had police calling me from his area about why i accessed his account

cutting a long story short, they contacted my mate and asked if what i was saying was true.. The police said to me that if he doesn't agree with what i said the police outside my home will take over matters.. Looked outside and yep, there was police lol.

.

It got sorted out when my mate answered his phone.. I asked the police how they got all this info, and how did they know about the account, ect....He said Sony and the Police work together, and where i went into his account with my PS3, Sony contacted the police with my information.

.

So you never know, he might get it back.

There's been stories on the forum before of Sony working with the police and tracking stolen PS3

My advice, DO get your hopes up as the console can be traced

Surely that's fairly obvious

Re: Stolen PS3

if you have the PS3 serial number you could always pop round to your local CEX and any other pawn shops and see if they will take the info too as it may be sold on quickly

Re: Stolen PS3

I would also recommend logging your details with http://www.immobilise.com.  Its free and at the click of a button, you can mark any property as stolen..  That ways if the police find any property and check it, it will show up as being stolen...
