Tech Support/Controller Issue

Greetings fellow PS3 enthusiasts,

I am having techical issues with my PS3 where by when turning on the PS3 and the XMB has loaded the cursor will move uncontrollably and scroll in several directions rapidly. I resetted and resynching the controller and even resorted to using a second controller and the same problems are occuring. Any feeback would be appreciated as this is a very annoying problem.

Re: Tech Support/Controller Issue

Hey there,

Sorry to hear of your issues with the controllers.

If the same thing is happening with two different controllers, then it's less likely to be either one. If you've also reset / recalibrated the controllers, then that's as much as can be done with them.

Make sure you don't have a BD remote or another controller under a couch cushion - this happens surprisingly a lot.

If you can, test either of the controllers on another PS3 as well.

Else, with your PS3, go through Settings -> System Settings -> Restore Default Settings - this will force all bluetooth devices to be unpaired.

Do the controllers still work to some degree? Can you still navigate the menu (perhaps with difficulty) and if you are able to load the browser, DVD or game, does it respond normally?

Re: Tech Support/Controller Issue

I suffered a similar issue which went on for days before I discovered my BD remote jammed under a couch cushion.

Re: Tech Support/Controller Issue

They've both been reset and resynched with USB, interestingly when both have been synched at times one of the two controllers when turned on will operate normal functionaly but only if both controllers are on. A default reset has also been executed but the same problem occured . No remotes are interferring

Re: Tech Support/Controller Issue

I know it's a long shot. But I had this problem ages back. I found out that it was caused by my Guitar Hero controller leaning against something. Do you have any periferals? These can change the way your machine operates.
