Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

I'm still loving my 3D TV. Crysis 1 is quite good in 3D. And I'm OVER THE MOON about the news of Assassin's Creed Revelations being in 3D. Cant wait for that now :smileyhappy:

Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

I noticed that Batman Arkham City on the PS3 is proper 3D, is it any good?

I had the AA edition that came with the red/blue type glasses and that worked pretty good so it would be interesting to hear how proper 3D fares in the Batworld.

have a look at this one

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/lg-32lw450u-32-full-hd-led-3d-tv-10404635-pdt.html

i got this an its awsome (but i would say that its mine lol)

it boasts 7million/1 ratio which is good its a led and personally i think is better than lcd and plasma,

its FULL HD and not like the cheaper hd ready so the picture is very clear, also has 7 pairs of glasses.

hope this helps

Not having played much of it: It's ok, but it's not one of those "I'll only play this in 3D" titles (of which there are a few).

I've just picked it up but won't have the chance to try today. Is it proper 3D or Z-buffer magic 3D rubbish zinep?

It's definitely not a full separate left & right eye render. Though I'm not sure what the tell-tale signs are for the various 3D techniques, it sort-of reminds me of the in-game 3D in the first game of the Prince of Persia trilogy.

One factor to consider concerning my previous remarks; I've been playing God of War and Child of Eden lately, which probably isn't the best idea just before trying out another 3D title. Although Batman AC's 3D felt slightly underwhelming, put it into that context: I've just had my brain bombared with the 3D of Child of Eden and God of War -- an act very difficult to follow.

Though it definitely doesn't do for me what the top 3D titles do, I'm glad they added 3D support to Batman AC; it doesn't feel like a wasted effort.

I'm curious to hear what others have to say about it.

PS. Ignoring the 3D for a second, and just looking at the models/textures/rendering, the game is quite beautiful. Very Batman:esque, aptly.

[ Edited ]

The easiest way to recognise a Z buffer 3D technique is, to put it simply, the resolution holding up remarkably well (see Crysis 2).

Also when viewed glasses off the technique will retain some seperation on all foreground objects unlike true stereoscopic when elements tend to blend the closer they get to the foreground. Essentialy it's all depth and zero pop with minimal sacrifice to res.

That would sum the 3D in Batman AC up pretty well. (From what little I've seen so far).
