anyone played 3d rift? any good, is it worth the 10pound from the store? Cheers

Yes. I'm honestly not much into racing games (the more "real" they strive to be, the less I care for them), but I really liked Motorstorm 3D Rift -- though I prefer Motorstorm Apocalypse.

I don't want to talk about racing games, particularly in a 3D thread, without mentioning Wipeout HD. Wipeout has boosters which go "boom!". :smileyhappy: If you're into racing games, but don't have Wipeout, I suggest you take a closer look at it.

Cheers guys. Yeah I was thinking about getting wipeout....might get that instead but I do like the motostorm games. Which has the best 3d effect?

That's a difficult one. :smileyhappy:

First of all, they all look good in 3D. But pressed on the issue, I'd say that Wipeout has a kind of "clean style" and the 3D effect is consistent throughout the game. The Motorstorm games also look good throughout the game, but they have certain "wow" moments which are less frequent/prominent in Wipeout (like when you make certain high jumps).

If you're looking for what is most "3D demo worthy", I would probably say go with Motorstorm Apocalypse primary, but Wipeout HD follows it closely.

That said, apart from the graphics, I personally much prefer the music in Wipeout, and - as previously stated - I love the boosters in it.

Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

Does the HDMI cable used make any difference to the 3d output?

I'm using the one that came with my xbox years ago.....is it worth getting a new one or as long as it's working I may as well keep it?

I have WipEout (a lot of people were offered it for free a while back) and as a racing game fan I think MotorStorm is the better game, the 3D effects are slightly better suited due to big drops and vertigo moments, and generally it is the better racer if you ask me. That said there is something about WipEout, it is really good its just that I prefer racing traditionaly with cars and stuff as opposed to... Whatever those thing in WipEout are, hover ships?

Beware of the Lg 42LW550T Passive 3d tv if your looking to play 3d games on it. Definitely one to avoid.

" Rather more troubling is the 42LW550T's motion processing. Even if you turn the TruMotion engine to its lowest setting flickering artifacts are visible. Turn it off, though and the picture looks slightly juddery and suffers from a touch of motion blur.

Luckily, a partial solution lies in the way the TV enables you to adjust the de-judder and de-blur elements of TruMotion. Set these to their lowest levels, or possibly to level 2 at a push, and the artefacting is reduced, creating an acceptable balance between reduced judder/blur and unwanted processing side-effects.

Input lag is one problem for which there doesn't seem to be a solution. Our tests revealed an average delay of 114ms (varying between 100ms and a maximum of around 150ms), which proves particularly detrimental to gaming. Time-sensitive games such as Guitar Hero or Call of Duty (online) clearly suffer, producing a frustrating and unrewarding experience. Given how much else the 42LW550T does right, and its potential to be a fun way for friends to indulge in some 3D gaming, this input lag flaw (that exists even within the screen's own Gaming mode) is a real shame."

And it also bad new for other Lg 3d tv's:-

Bad news for gamers

The third of the 50PZ850's genuine disappointments - if you're a gamer, at any rate - concerns its input lag. For as with many other LG TVs in 2011, this plasma model records a figure of 81ms, even when using its dedicated Game preset. This is more than twice as high as the input lag figures of most rivals this year, and from our experience can result in reduced performance when playing fast-reaction games.

Other LG models also badly affected by gremlins:-

Re: The AD Gaming Discussion Thread!

Yeah, mine is an LG and I have zero problems with it.

I've read a lot of reports of input lag and ghosting issues, but I haven't noticed any.

I bought Crysis the other day while its on offer, looks good! Finding it hard to spot the enemies most of the time though, they seem to blend in with the jungle very very well!
