The game is fantastic chum, the 3D isn't I'm afraid. It's just a bit of depth and doesn't really justify wearing the specs.

I'm not a fan of this 'Magic' 3D at all, thanks for that Crytek. :smileytongue:

I gotta say, after having played it for a few more hours, I agree. Maybe not 100%; I don't know if I'd call it pointless, but it's definitely not far from it.

Just to emphasize what fski said: This thread is about 3D; if you read "X isn't good", chances are X refers to the 3D, not the game itself.

And just emphasize the other point: Batman Arkham City is a fantastic (the game, not the 3D). I very much doubt you will be disappointed with it.

Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

I have recently played Gran Turismo 5 with the logitech sterring wheel and pedals on my Dads PS3 and thought it was awesome.  Have also played a demo of Killzone 3d and enjoyed that.

I currently have a Sony Bravia kdl40w4500 full hd tv (none 3d) and am considering upgrading to 3d.

Is it worth it or should I stick with my current Tv which is only 2 years old?

What are the benefits, and cons of 3d?

Thanks.

That's a tough one to answer. Ultimately, do you want a 3DTV enough to justify the upgrade?

Cons of 3D...

Well, some games take a fair hit to resolution and AA in order to render the same image twice and if you go with an active set (as opposed to the passive system) some find the specs bulky, experience flicker and crosstalk.

It's best to try out active and passive systems as well as plasma and LCD's before you buy.

The 40W4500 is a superb display so I'd think twice about chopping that in.

Have you considered the route which I might be taking - the HMZ-T1 ?

Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

I am personally going to wait for the 'good' quality 3d tv's to drop in price alot till I invest in the next dimension. I played Batman:AC on a friends 3d tv (42 inch I think and about £600/£700) and it was just ok. Also in Currys (or was it Comet) I tried out the £2000 3d Samsung 46 inch LED (UE46DB8000) with again Batman:AC and the improvement in quality was really quite high!! The tiny allmost unnoticeable edging around the outside of the screen helps the 3d effect alot as you just see a screen and not a screen in a frame. Anyway yes it may be 3 times the cost of my mates 3d tv but that's my point that there is great technology out there but you need deep pockets to fully appreciate it! I can't wait to see a large OLED screen pumping out 3D!!! Again though like most people I'll have to wait untill it's quite alot cheaper... Defo try before you buy as loads of the cheaper 3d TVs are rubbish!!

Re: The 3D Gaming Discussion Thread!

I am interested in the HMZ-T1 but am concerned how much it will cost. How much is it likely to cost and is there anywhere we can try it out first?
