STILL CAN'T play Bookworm on the net where I could before!
STILL CAN'T use Channel 5's Demand5 streaming service where I can stream all the other previously analogue terrestrial channels - where you CAN do so on an Xbox!
STILL CAN'T watch video clips on Sky News & therefore still getting this CRAP:-
Adobe Flash Player

I'm a little confused, what exactly has Sony upgraded in their so called 4.20 Systems Upgrade, looks the same as, what was it before 4.11 or something?
I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but I feel after it's done all its upgrading, installing, rebooting & finally displaying 'press the PS key' - it should actually then give you the choice of whether you want to see what Sony has deigned to change or not!
At the moment I haven't a bloody clue!
I know, I'm supposed to go on a mission to the Euro blog or something!

If you bothered to look then you'd know whats changed, try going to the numerous threads in the PS3 section, at least half a dozen of them have links telling you whats been done.
Although if you'd been paying attention you could also have found out BEFORE the firmware was released, and thats pretty unusual for Sony. Slightly annoying if I'm honest, I used to like the "spot the difference" competition that followed every firmware update.
For more specifics on changes to the browser, check out Tribble6's thread on the PS3 browser http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation
And for any major change to the browser I think you're gonna have to wait until at least the autumn. Some of the coding required for Sony to implement html5 video and a Webkit2 browser is still being written apparently, and not expected to be released until September (FYI, thats a "best guess" and a bit of wild but informed speculation from those who seem to know more about this stuff than me??).
Even then, its a big IF ??? By then I would expect a lot of resources to be being put onto the PS4's development and whether or not the browser gets updated ever again is up for debate.
But as much as you love to moan about it just remember the PS3 is a 6yr old system, the fact it does what it does is pretty good. If you judge it on modern standards its always gonna come up short, so judge on 6yr old standards and be happy.

Yes, I've been told this before, but have never been given a reason why Adobe have stopped supporting it on the PS3? Why is better supported on the Xbox?
What's the point of having a system that then doesn't keep pace with what's happening on the net?
This whole concept of UPGRADING DOESN'T BLOODY WORK!
Just look at what's happened to Natwest Bank, they tried to upgrade a system with multiple platforms with VARYING AGED systems & what happened? The whole damn thing crashed about their ears, because of this absolutely pathelogical obsession by computer people that you must upgrade & throw away what you had before.
I believe the goal is 'CONVERGENCE' - well it ain't bloody happening is it?
This ARROGANT attitude that technology can only look forward and not backward engineer to be compatible with what was being used before is going to end in disaster. Not everybody wants to evolve at the same rate and that's where the problem is.

Why should I have to go searching for threads & blogs for information & processes that have changed once I've downloaded the update - the information should be to hand on the PS3 itself via the XrossMediaBar, highlighting on the various menus where the changes have occurred. It's called CONVENIENCE!
The information should come to the customer 'at the point of use', not the customer has to go where it's convenient for you to store the bloody information. This really makes me angry!
It's like when the damn thing crashes - I totally don't accept that there is no redundancy built into the system, so the system knows there is a problem and reports back to the customer what the problem is once it's crashed!
Instead you get this COVERT report functionality once it reboots, whereby, SOMETIMES it wants to send a report to Sony, but you, the customer are not informed of what is in that report or why you've been inconvenienced in the first place!

You didn,t expect anything else but the responses you got from the friendly members of the Official Sony Playstation forum did you?they would defend the system even if it burst into flames before there very eyes,if you wan,t your gripes to fall on impartial ears here aint the place to do it,i remember the statement and selling point "IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING"and not the "but not very well apart from play games" part,so it makes me laugh when i see reply,s like"what do you expect from a 6 year old system" i expect it to be able to do what the even older and supposedly inferior xbox manages to achieve,i also remember the statement "the system will still be relevant in 10 years" but not the "reliability isn,t great and we will be bringing out a mark 2 version in a couple of years"part,me after my initial £425 outlay for a launch 60gb model and the 4 refurbs i have bought from Sony must have spent nearly a thousand pounds
you really can,t say anything derogatory against the ps3 here or you will get flamed even tho you may be pointing out a perfectly legitimate point![]()
