Logicintuwisdom you may already know this, but incase you don't -
At the time that Sony desinged the PS3 they needed a way of people buy new games and downloadeble content to their PS3 and at that time there was no designatored Playstation Store application.
Instead Sony just built a website that only* the PS3 could access. But in order for the PS3 to access this website the PS3 would need a web browser, so Sony bluit a basic browser for this task.

Do I want to be sat at a PC or squatting over a laptop, especially if I've been doing the same at my place or work, or do I want to be comfortably on my sofa with a cup of tea, some buttered crumpets with cheese etc.,.. Yes, you've guessed it, the latter!
You go on about the browser, saying:- "If the browser was full on functional like Google chrome, it would take up a lot of memory & use up a lot of energy on the PS3; that could stop us from playing the games or watching movies that we enjoy" - so why couldn't Sony have designed it better to use some of that enormous 320GB of memory (if it's not the right kind of RAM, then make some of it the right kind) & satisfy both our needs afterall....
The CUSTOMER is SUPPOSED to be always RIGHT!
How exactly do you expect a web browser to use the 320 gig HDD to function?? It needs RAM not HDD Memory. The PS3 is what 6 years old so its not suprising it has a low amount of RAM, im amazed sony have managed to add all the features it has to the XMB given the (nowadays) low amount of RAM that it has.
As for "the customer is always right" - give me a break.

SNIP the silly quoting
Yes you seem to be.
Whats Bill Gates got to do with Sony and the Ps3? Nada!
I use lap top and I don't squat over it talk about a stupid excuse.
The PS3 RAM can not be upgraded unlike the HDD
No the customer is not always right as you get people like yourself who do not do the RESEARCH on what they are buying first.
If you had done the Research you would have known the PS3 browser was not up to the task even before UK launch.
Sorry noboddy to blame but your self for lack of research.
A normal person who wants to do stuff with a browser buys a PC/Laptop/MAC not a PS3![]()

So i take it you have never heard of wireless mouse or keyboards ?
I have my pc running through my tv more so because it handier for watching things like E3 rather than being sat infront of my pc.
I don't have wireless mouse & keyboard as i have wired gaming stuff instead.
In reality if you used your head a pc is an all in one system which can be used for everything.
Google chrome is the least memory intensive of all browsers.
And the customer isn't always right they just believe they are.

It did improve it but you have to remeber it has less functions now even with that update than it did at launch.
The internet has moved on and the PS3 browser stood still so it is actuley has less function now than it did for the first 18 months.

OK. We'll see about that if PS3 gets IPv6!
If you want to see if you are ipv6 ready to go http://test-ipv6.com
I am ipv6 ready but the ipv6 uses teredo and there is no ipv6 dns server so i have to enter the ipv6 address to get to that website. If you are ipv6 ready ipv6.google.com is a great place to start.

It does tell you what it's updating before you agree too it. granted if you don't agree you can't then log in. Your issue with not being unable to see some things on the browser is just that, your issue. If you want to see these services on your tv might I suggest connecting your computer to the tv with the appropriate cable. Unless your tv is very dated it won't be a problem, I for one haven't tried running a ps3 game on my laptop and wouldn't expect it to work. your comments regards being a customer sound rather trite and immature. I suggest before qouting trading standards you actually look at the legislation. The PS3 is sold with a browser function. That is what you have. Access to sites or services may be restricted on any system you use. eg: my laptop cannot run games as it isn't powerful enough to run online ones or disc based ones. I do not expect it to be remedied from the date i bought it and future proofed. You also seem to have an issue with people answering your comments. Don't post if you are going to talk to people as if they were stupid, and do your RESEARCH before making any comments.
