You don't want to use the javascript heavy format anyway on PS3 browser.
That why Gametrailers Is crawling to a halt. lol.

Not checked Gmail (dont have an account) but tried Ebay, both with javascript on and off, and it was all working fine for me, on screen keyboard functioning properly.
I checked the .co.uk site, is that the one? or are you refering to the .com site?

Ebay.co.uk does as he says if you ignore one of the PS3 browsers golden rules on lower resolutions than 1080i
You must click the Top of the Search bar. not the middle, not bottom, not the left side, not the right. but the top of the search bar. This then activates the search bar for the page.

Pages don't appear to load correctly because they lack colour, graphics etc. I'm less concerned with these ostensibly aesthetic errors than the fact that I can't read email messages when I open them because they appear blank.
I signed up to PSN five years ago using my Yahoo Mail account and in the ensuing years have never seen a problem like this before on PS3. It seems to have become almost impossible to find a way to contact Yahoo directly regarding this issue so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps this was just a temporary issue as I was able to view my Inbox and a couple messages (I only use my Yahoo mail account for spam avoidence). It even appears to work with JavaScript turned off (not generally recommend), so this can't be the problem.
P.S. In a previous post, I should of course have written 200MB and not 200k, as you really wouldn't be able to do anything with that little RAM
. Also, this was pure speculation and maybe the browser can already use all available RAM, just like any other PS3 app (game, NetFlix etc).

gmail will not load in standard view any more since update 4.20, this is, for me, a real pain and it's wholly Sony's fault.

Have you tried updating to 4.21 optional update?

the standard version of my sky mail doesn't load now either, but i couldn't care less tbh.
sky mail is run by google & probably shares a lot of code with gmail.
i've always used the basic html version with the ps3 browser anyway, because it's so much faster.

After some initial testing of firmware update 4.21 (released last Thursday P.M.), it looked like the cookie issue may have been finally resolved, but alas, one by one my cookies have been eaten. NetFlix was the first to go, where the cookies have a minimum expiry date of several months in the future (most are set to expire a year hence). At least 4.21 has stepped back from the brink and cookies aren't dropping like flies, You can use the Developer Tools in Chrome (Resources tab) to view full details of the cookies setup by a web site.
If anything the browser is now more prone to full crashes (whole system completely locked and pressing PlayStation button does nothing) and I had one just a few moments ago, attempting to lookup the story of Andy Murray's defeat on the BBC News site... It may be possibly related to moving the cursor while the page is still loading (Flash content).
Unless Sony devotes sufficient resources to addressing these issues, the browser is likely to suffer an embarrassing straight sets defeat to Internet Explorer in the fall (on the X-Box 360), which will likely be over in a flash
(even though IE is unlikely to support Flash at all)... However, it doesn't necessarily have to be this way as I for one (speaking as a software engineer) would be willing to spend an almost unlimited amount of time attempting to fix these issues (for free). Come on Sony, how about we at least give IE a good match?
BONUS FEATURE!!! Those who use the browser regularly may have noticed a bonus feature, which is a direct result of the new focus bug (focus is incorrectly set to Flash objects, such as adverts etc). Sometimes the cursor ends up not on a Flash object, but at the bottom of the screen and if you wait for the page to fully load (do not move cursor), you can press R3 to zoom the page to the ideal size (without having to repeatedly hold down L2 to un-zoom).
In fact, I would highly recommend that Sony changes the zoom feature to make it work like this as standard (in un-zoomed state, first press of R3 zooms page to minimum zoom state (with scroll bar on right), as this allows you to read whole page). You can then zoom in further (to a photo etc), if desired.
Another improvement I would highly recommend is to the text entry dialog's handy Prediction feature; stop ignoring words beginning with a capital letter, as at the start of a sentence. To workaround this issue, if I'm posting a message and am entering a long word, I sometimes enter the word in lower case, so I can select the word from the list of suggestions and then go back and capitalize the first letter...
