And the Heavy Rain theme, would be nice to see some sunshine or snow or maybe some drizzle I guess!

And it would'nt require a lot of work to do either. Now would it mean downloading a massive dynamic theme. The game would save the textures required to the save game, then the theme reads and applies to textures to the theme.

I posted a comment on the dynamic themes website, and it went something  like this...

If you were to have a bad round, and quit, how about your soldier on your dynamic theme looking like he's done a round or two with mike tyson?

Part of the problem is Sony, maybe they did'nt think that far ahead, or that dynamic themes could create new avenues and revenue streams.

But imagine dynamic themes based on your favourite TV programme, and that dynamic theme updates in the backfround, giving you new information, scoops, insights, and even broadcast times of the TV programme.

Or how about advertising, Burger King, Budweiser, nokia, timex, or anything for that matter. With updated offers, competitions, or giveaways, and lots more besides. With millions of potential customers worldwide, I think it's something that needs to be considered.

What are your thoughts?

You would'nt have to let it become a billboard. You just dont download the theme.

But what if a theme gave you special offers, competitions, free stuff? Would you download it then? I think most people would, but you have the ability to swap the theme to something you want to see.

has anyone else got some creative ideas? There could be loads of potential applications that dynamic themes could have.

How about Video Backgrounds? Or live video feeds? Or a live video feed from the International Space Station? Or an underwater camera on Australia's Coral Reef?

If I see a budweiser advertisement on my xmb then I sell my PS3.

It's an opt-in service, you have to download the theme for it to show, I seriously doubt that Sony would force adverts on us.

But thats just an example, what if was for a product or service you use?

Would you then be interested in a theme that caters to your tastes or needs?

Formula one for example, could show this weeks standings, or track layouts for the next race.

But think about this, almost every dynamic theme is an advert, even the star trek themes are publising something. So in reality, you are already downloading advert, it's just that they are more relevant to YOU.

Sony could sell dynamic themes to companies as advertising spaces. Could replace the idea of charging for the extra playstation network features. I don't really know if it would work though because who would really knowingly download ads.

Another idea is to link the dynamic theme to your friends list. A call of duty theme could show what your friends who are playing call of duty are up to (e.g. playing free-for-all in Highrise) or could show your friend's stats (e.g. kills ratio, wins etc.).
