Then I'm screwed. I think most of my stuff is all less than a gig anyway. I might just put everything over onto my mac and just stream it all back after that. Saves alot of walking in the second half of the process.

Well I'm going to buy a HDD, most likely tomorrow from CPL. http://www.cpl.net.au/greenguide/20080828-web.pdf (here's their price list).

I'm am tossing up between the 250gb Seagate or the Samsung 320gb. (not that much of a price differene). Only reason I am leaning towards Seagate is to be on the safe side of using the same brand already in the PS3. Unless anyone can tell me the Samsung ones will work fine, particulary the 320gb one.

im a big seagate user..i'd choose seagate over anything but a few people here went samsung and its working fine. so i went samsung cos they had 400gb. seagate only had the 250gb (at msy). only reason. but i bought the 500Gb 3.5" Seagate FreeAgent Pro only for backup...

from my experinces, seagate is way more reliable than WD & Maxtor... and u get 5yrs warranty.

Hmmm Ok. Still not sure what to do now though, lol. I mean, 250gb is the least I will go and anything over 320gb is more than what I need anyway. I'll ponder over it.

between 250gb & 320gb ill go seagate

between 250gb & +400gb i'd go samsung (since 250gb is the biggest seagate)

I've just sent my PS3 away to Sony to get repaired or replaced, but my question is when I get it back it will be back to it's original basic state or if new, nothing at all. Is it as easy as just buying a new 250gig HDD and installing it straight away and letting it set itself up or is there more to it than that? The only thing kept from what I understand is the basic parameters of the PS3 when changing over the HDD, there's no need for me to back anything up. Is this correct?

you will get it back as it were completley new...so its best installing the newer hdd when u get it back.

when i got my 60gb, i installed a 400gb right away. (upgrading the hhd over is easier than it seems) if u have lots of photos, music, videos & game saves i hope you backed it up. i just did the comprehensive backup (doesn't do downloaded games & game data) and when i restored it back to my 400gb i got it all back except my EOJ game save... ( but i did 38 video clips via simple backup on two 4GB compact flash)..

That is for a PC (3.5"). It needs to be 2.5" to fit laptops and the PS3.
