Re: The Unofficial PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade Thread

Well I bought a Samsung 320gb because the place I went to didnt have the 250gb Seagate in stock. So I made a quick decision on the spot and just got the Samsung. I hope that decision doesn't screw me over. I will install it later.

Re: The Unofficial PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade Thread

Done. Seems to be working fine. The only problem I had was with those stupid 4 screws on the case. The blue one was fine, but I had to use pliers to get a good grip on the screwdriver to actually turn it, and in the process I semi-stripped one. Takes away 22gb from the 320 total unfortunately, but it's still a good amount for me anyway.

Oh, and bloody hell, I thought Seagate was suppose to be already in there? Well guess what, it was a Hitachi! It is a refurbished console that I got as a replacement a few weeks ago, that may be way.

Has anyone sucessfully installed a 7200rpm HDD, and if so have you experienced any negative heat problems? (and yes I did read the first post)

Re: The Unofficial PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade Thread

nah unfortunately I had no access to any way of backing my game saves up. Had no photos, music or anything else on there thank god! Though I've been told when I enter my account details into the new system I'll be able to retrieve games like Super Stardust, Super Puzzle Fighter etc back without paying for them again, that's going to save me some money at least. Have to start all PS3 games like AC, COD4, MGS4 again though, *****! Ah well give me a chance to appreciate them again I guess.

u could of used flash memory if u had the 60gb model or storage hdd like maxtors onetouch, seagate freeagent..etc.

lol, it makes sense u dont have to pay again to recover your games. (just the one purchase, u can delete it and download it again.)

Once you have done the back up can you let us know what backed up andwhat didnt??

Also as others have said you should do a regular back up of your save games.
